Lets see it all started yesterday Feb. 24, 2010. My partner and I have been dealing with our 2 1/2 month old daughter Kristina. She has been throwing up (projectile vomiting) with a bad case of diarrhea. You know the kind that runs out of the diaper and half way up her back. Ewwww. So I was sitting on my bed feeding Kristina I started to burp her then all of a sudden she projectile vomiting. So my partner and I decided to call her pediatrician. They told us to bring her in or take her to the ER. So that is exactly what we did. And o boy was I glad. We found out she was dehydrated. So she received an IV. Plus they took blood. Then we were off to ultra sound for her belly. It's just to see if things are ok and they were. Then the shocking news they told us that Kristina was being admitted to the hospital. My partner and I both spent the night. She was admitted to the Children's Place at Lowell General. All the nurses were so nice and helpful. We told them we had nothing to eat. So they gave us some crackers. Then we were told they had a kitchen that we could help our self too. Later on they came in and hooked up Kristina to monitors (just like the old times being in the NICU) Let me tell you it's very hard to comfort your sick baby while she is hooked up to monitors. We had a rough night. We did manage to get some sleep with all the nurses coming in and check on her. I know it's for the best. Then morning rolled around they informed us that we didn't have to give her Pedialyte anymore. That we could start with the breast milk again. She did really good with it. After that feeding the doctors told us we were going to give her baby rice cereal in her next feeding. They say 1 teaspoon to every ounce of milk. Wow what a different it makes. She is use to drinking 5 ounces of milk and now she is drinking 3 ounces of milk. Kristina has reflux and she has been on Zantac for a week now but the doctors upped her dose too. This has a happy ending. She was released today from the hospital Feb 25, 2010. She just spent the night. All the doctors and nurses said she did really good. I believe that my partner and I from staying overnight helped alot. So for now she is home doing awesome. My partner and I are glad to be home. Like they say there is no place like home ,but we are just happy that Kristina is doing awesome.
